Telehealth

The coronavirus is adversely affecting everyone in some way. With the need for social distancing, Telehealth Services provide a safe and effective way to deal with related difficulties such as:

  • Increased anxiety about the health of yourself or others
  • Financial losses or strains through job loss, pay cuts or furloughs
  • Home life changes – adjusting to being together all the time
  • Loss of social connection and community
  • Relational strains
  • Isolation
  • Fitting it all in – balancing your children’s school/academic needs while maintaining full-time jobs
  • Loss of childcare

These cultural changes are resulting in an increased need for support to deal with new or intensified individual problems, disorders or relational issues. I currently provide services for these issues and more through  the HIPAA compliant Simple Practice Telehealth platform.

Telehealth is a fairly recent platform for delivering counseling and medical services. Telehealth is the use of video telecommunication technologies to support long-distant clinical health care services. While typically limited in scope, it is currently being used almost exclusively as a way to provide services during the restrictions imposed by the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Multiple studies have recognized and affirmed Telehealth as a viable and effective way to deliver counseling and psychotherapy services. My clients have expressed gratitude for this ability to continue receiving treatment and have indicated the experience continues to feel personal and is productive. I will make our first meeting warm and comfortable and provide help with your technological set up.

Frequently asked questions:

Will my insurance cover Telehealth?

Generally, Telehealth services are not covered by insurance, however, due to the current call to limit contact with others, most insurance companies are providing coverage for this delivery of services. I do recommend you contact your insurance provider to be certain.

Do I need a computer to use Telehealth?

Video conferencing can be done with a PC or Mac computer, tablet, or phone.

How do I ensure confidentiality?

Confidentiality is important to me and I will do all that I can to ensure it. I use an encrypted and HIPAA compliant platform. You will receive a personal link and password to connect. I am located in my private office. I suggest you have a private room and set a sound machine or music outside the door. Some clients have chosen to meet in their car.

If I see you through Telehealth, can I switch to in person meeting?

Once it is safe and practical to meet, I would encourage the transition.
